These Springtime Flowers came to me when I was sitting at the table where my son was eating his Easter candy, this last Easter. I was playing with his plastic Easter eggs and a spoon and realized they had the same curvature. When the egg and the spoons were put together, it began to look like a flower. [April 2021]

Springtime Flowers Plastic Spoons
To begin making these Springtime Flowers, you will need to paint four plastic spoons. Any color you want to use is fine, I used acrylic paint but you can use whatever paint that works for you. I used clear plastic spoons just laying around here at the house, any plastic spoons will work. I started out with four whole spoons but when put together, found the stems were too thick. Using two cut spoons worked better. Cut two spoons by scoring them with a knife and then snap the spoon part from the handle as shown in the pic above. (So you need four spoons, two with a handle and two without.)

I then painted the bottom of the plastic egg, but after making another quickly realized that this step was not needed. By painting the egg it did not make a good seal when gluing.
Gluing
Next, after the paint was dry, I began gluing the two whole spoons to the plastic egg bottom with the opening facing upward (as pictured below). Once all the spoons are glued around the egg I made a cute little bow to place at the base of the petals. Be sure to glue the bow to a spoon that still has it’s handle or you won’t see the stem well, this side will be the front of your flower.

For the base, I used a tin can, and a foam cushion piece to hold the flower up. In order to hold the flower upright I used some scissors to cut a hole down into the foam and stuck the spoon handle in the hole.
Adding Grass
To mimic grass, I used green raffia glued to the foam while wrapping around the flower stem until you no longer see the foam through the raffia.

Finally, you decorate your tin can; you can use whatever you want or have to decorate it. I used some ribbon and wrapped it around the can. I also used white cardstock to cut out stars, and painted them with red and blue.
